Five Cities Fire Authority Announces Appointment of New Fire Chief

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA – The Five Cities Fire Authority (FCFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Hallett as the new Fire Chief following the retirement of Chief Stephen Lieberman. Mr. Hallett joins the FCFA after a long tenure serving the communities of Atascadero and Paso Robles. Mr. Hallet is a San Luis Obispo County Native and attended Cal Poly upon graduation from High School before beginning his fire service career. His passion for the fire service began in 1991 when he was hired by the Atascadero Fire Department as a seasonal firefighter.

Mr. Hallett has dedicated over 32 years in the fire service, providing leadership in various roles throughout San Luis Obispo County and has been active in emergency management and incident response both locally and statewide. His service in Atascadero spanned 27 years, where he served as a firefighter, fire engineer, and fire captain.

In 2018, Chief Hallett was hired by Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services as an operations battalion chief, where he will serve until he begins his new role as the Five Cities Fire Authority Fire Chief on April 29th.

Mr. Hallett brings a strong operations background and has a long record in our County. We look forward to seeing Chief Hallett lead the Authority into the future.”

Chief Hallett resides on the Central Coast and has two adult children Kayla and Preston. “My kids have been my proudest life accomplishments, and my family has been incredibly supportive of this new chapter in my career,” said Hallett.

The FCFA is a Joint Powers Authority between the City of Arroyo Grande and the City of Grover Beach to provide fire and emergency medical services. The Authority was created to increase service levels to residents and visitors, to ensure consistent and professional training standards, and to increase operational efficiencies in the Authority’s service area.
