The City Will Hold Two Community Meetings on the Traffic Way Bridge Replacement Project

ARROYO GRANDE, CA – The City of Arroyo Grande invites the community to attend an informal meeting regarding the upcoming Traffic Way Bridge Replacement Project. This meeting will provide an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project and to ask questions.

The Traffic Way Bridge, constructed in 1932, spans 228 feet over Arroyo Grande Creek and currently features three lanes of traffic, along with shoulders, sidewalks, and a Class II Bike Route. Due to ongoing channel erosion, the bridge requires replacement to address safety concerns and infrastructure resilience.

The City plans to construct a new bridge designed to modern standards, which will span completely over Arroyo Grande Creek without intermediate supports, thereby eliminating erosion and maintenance issues. The new bridge will be built along the existing alignment of Traffic Way to minimize construction impacts.

In an effort to expedite construction and reduce costs, the Arroyo Grande City Council has approved a full closure of Traffic Way during the construction phase. This approach will decrease the overall project timeline from two seasons to one, significantly reducing the impact on the community.

Residents and community members are encouraged to attend this meeting to stay informed about the changes and improvements to this crucial piece of Arroyo Grande’s infrastructure.
