Today, the Vitality Advisory Council of Oceano (VACO) proudly announces the groundbreaking ceremony for the transformative Oceano Plaza that looks to shape the future of Oceano. The shovel-ready project begins next week, with completion planned for later this year.

About the Project: Our groundbreaking event marks the commencement of a visionary initiative that will enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. The project has come together with collaboration from Clean California, SLOCOG, and Caltrans and encompasses the following key elements:
1. Community Gathering Space: The new community plaza will serve as a vibrant hub for gatherings, cultural events, and celebrations. Imagine picnics under the sun, live music echoing through the air, and laughter shared among friends and neighbors.
2. Promoting active transportation choices: The Caltrans design team developed the Oceano Plaza with the pedestrian and bicyclist access in mind. Although however anyone arrives to the Oceano Plaza, it can be enjoyed by the entire community.
3. Beautification of downtown Oceano: The Caltrans design team has thoughtfully incorporated the community's request for artful components that represent Oceano’s heritage and priorities.
4. Environmental Stewardship: The project includes native plant landscaping, solar-powered lighting, and eco-friendly amenities. We aim to preserve Oceano’s natural beauty for generations to come.
